Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Watch the Walkway
There's a hole in the walkway near the dock area that's easy to miss, especially when you're focused on getting your boat tied up. Keep your eyes down if you're walking gear back and forth.
Downtown Convenience
This is one of the few Lake Michigan launches where you can drop the boat, park, and walk to restaurants, bars, and shops without moving the truck. Friday fish fry right by the water is a legit tradition here.
Big Boat Heads-Up
If you're running anything over 35 feet and want transient dockage, they don't take reservations — you have to call early the morning of. They're good about squeezing people in, but don't assume you'll just roll up and get a slip on a summer weekend.
28 Spots Fill Fast
Two lanes handle the launch traffic fine on weekdays, but 28 trailer spots is tight for a marina this popular. Summer weekends, especially around events and holidays, you'll want to arrive early or have a plan for street parking nearby. The $3 launch fee keeps things reasonable at least.
Green Bay Staging Point
This is a prime jump-off for running across to Door County or fishing the Bay of Green Bay. Protected harbor, solid facilities, and the staff actually hustles — they bike or run to help you dock instead of strolling over. Hard to beat for an Upper Peninsula municipal launch.
