Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Tight Parking Window
Only 6 trailer spots, and on summer weekends they go fast. If you're not there by mid-morning on a Saturday, you're probably out of luck — there's no real overflow option nearby.
Ramp Is Solid
For a single-lane site from the 1960s, the ramp is in good shape with decent slope. Fine for small to mid-size boats, but don't try squeezing anything over 20 feet through here.
Avoid Midday Weekends
Long Lake has reduced-speed hours set aside for fishing, but from roughly noon to 5 PM on weekends and holidays the recreational boat traffic gets heavy. Fish early morning or weekday evenings if you want any peace.
Murky Water Lately
The lake has a mud bottom and water clarity has dropped noticeably in recent years. Fishing quality has followed it down. Temper your expectations — this isn't what it was a decade ago.
Good For Small Outings
There's a dock next to the ramp and a pit toilet on site, which is more than a lot of these little Grand Traverse launches offer. Solid spot to put in a kayak or take kids out on a calm morning.
