Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Not a Real Ramp
There's no concrete ramp here — it's basically a carry-down access point. You can slide a drift boat or canoe in without much trouble, but don't show up expecting to back a trailer into the water. It's a river pull-off, nothing more.
Deep in the Boonies
This spot is way out in the state forest east of Grayling, and the roads getting here are unpaved and can get rutted. First-timers will want GPS — signage is minimal and it's easy to blow right past it.
Drift Boat Takeout
Where this place earns its keep is as a mid-river stop for Manistee float trips. Easy bank access for pulling a drift boat out, and three trailer spots is usually plenty since traffic is light. Most paddlers and anglers use it as a waypoint, not a starting point.
Shallow and Sandy
The water right at the access is shin-deep at best during normal summer flows. Great if you want to wade with kids, but you're not putting anything with a motor in here. Think of it as a river beach with parking.
