The Drought-Proof Door
Marion County calls this the only public launch with access in most low-water conditions — on a sinkhole lake that loses two-thirds of itself in a bad decade, that makes it the most important concrete on the water. When drought pulls the lake back, the fish camps' ramps strand first (one already stands fully out of the water); McIntosh Bay holds depth last.
Rebuilt from Scratch
Officially reopened in 2026 after a ground-up rebuild fourteen years in the making: dual-lane ramp, relocated handicap-accessible fishing pier, floating docks on steel piles, lighting, septic and paved parking. It reopened straight into the drought it was built for — FWC calls it the best launch for larger outboards at these levels.
McIntosh Bay Water
The bay puts you on the south end's spatterdock lines and the channels that concentrate fish when the lake shrinks. In season this shore also belongs to the duck hunters at first light — dual-use water, mutual courtesy. Under current conditions, everything past the marked depths is a rumor; idle until proven otherwise.
The Attractor Pier
Locals have called this corner Boardman for generations, after the ghost citrus settlement behind the park, and the pier here has always been the south shore's bank-fishing institution. The rebuilt pier carries a fish attractor just off it — genuinely productive bank fishing, and on a lake this low it may outfish plenty of boats.
