Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
SR 26 Main Door
Jill McGuire Santa Fe Lake Park is the lake's primary public ramp — two concrete lanes with a launch dock, free, fourteen trailer spots, pavilions, a playground, and trails through the woods behind. Restrooms are on the county's improvement list but not yet built; plan accordingly. Alligators are present per the county's advisory — be vigilant.
Memorize the Channel
The ramp connects to open water through a channel in the cypress, and the regulars' warning is unanimous: note your line on the way out, because the trees hide the entrance coming back. On a lake this size, hunting for your channel at dusk is a rite of passage best skipped.
Clear-Water Home Base
From here the eelgrass edges of the main basin spread in every direction — sight-fishing water in the spawn, panfish country in summer, and an Outstanding Florida Water's clarity underneath it all. Clean, drain, and dry; this lake's status is worth protecting.
Hours Note
The state inventory lists this ramp at 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM rather than around the clock — for pre-dawn or after-dark launches, the Little Santa Fe ramp near Keystone Heights runs 24 hours.
