Two cautions — Hunters Lake has its own launch-depth problem in the county's capital record, and the county's capital plan carries a Lake Lindsey ramp line for the same out-years as Bystre's. Withlacoochee/Nobleton is the river option and the most likely to be usable regardless of lake stage.

FWC's row says "Open for Business," but it is a 2009-era record with no field notes, and Hernando County's own list of maintained boat ramps does not name Bystre. No closure is posted either. Bystre Lake carries a lake-specific mercury advisory: largemouth bass at one meal per month for women of childbearing age and young children, one per week for everyone else; bluegill and blue tilapia at two per week. Those three species are also the entire documented fish list — health-department sampling, not a fisheries survey.
The Water Itself
About 217 acres by the mapped polygons, with no published depth. FDEP lists the lake impaired for nitrogen, phosphorus, chlorophyll-a and its aquatic community, with an adopted mercury TMDL. It has also flooded — the lake overflowed into the pastures along Mondon Hill Road in August 2018.
