The Estate Put-In
Inside Mackay Gardens and Lakeside Preserve — the historic citrus-era estate grounds Lake Alfred preserved as a public lakeside park — a canoe and kayak launch slips paddlers onto Rochelle's northeast corner beneath the old oaks. Daytime hours, garden manners, no better-looking put-in on either chain.
Paddle the North's Best Water
From here the wetland edges, canal mouths, and dark quiet reaches of the North Chain are all within an easy paddle — the chain's gentlest big-water paddling, with Haines and the Echo route in range for the ambitious.
Hand-Carry Only
This is a paddlecraft launch inside a preserve — no trailers, no motors off this shore, facilities per the park. Bring the boat you can carry.
