One Ramp, Three Names
The end of Lake George Road is one launch with every agency's badge: the Forest Service lists it as the Volusia Wharf Boat Ramp — the historic landing name — Lake County runs it as the Lake George Boat Ramp, and the map apps split the difference. It's the lake's 24-hour south door: unpaved, free, ten trailer spots, busy on summer evenings.
The Bar-Beater
The quiet superpower is geometric: this ramp launches into a dredged channel through the Volusia Bar — per the Forest Service, one of the rare spots where a boater reaches Lake George without crossing the bar at all. Hold the cut going out: straight ahead lie the lake's shallows; a swing right runs upriver into Astor's marina row.
Unimproved by Design
This is old-Florida access — unpaved surface, minimal frills, forest at your back. Trailered boats use it daily, but bring the boat that doesn't mind a little sand and save the pristine rig for Shell Harbor's asphalt across the lake. What you trade in polish you get back in position and hours.

The full-service row — Astor Bridge Marina, rentals, the Blackwater Inn's dock — sits minutes upriver, making this free ramp the budget door to a full-amenity neighborhood. Fuel, bait, and a dock lunch all live within an idle, and the striper refuges up the western shore are the summer morning run.
