Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Paddle Craft Only
Don't bother trying to trailer a powerboat here. The river is maybe 20 feet wide at the put-in, and there's no trailer parking at all. This is a kayak and canoe launch, plain and simple.
Shoaling Near The Bay
Between the put-in and Munising Bay, the river mouth tends to shoal up. If you're paddling out to the big water, hug the deeper channel along the west bank or you'll be dragging bottom in a loaded kayak.
Worth It For The Setting
What this spot lacks in infrastructure it makes up for in scenery. You're right at the mouth looking out toward Lake Superior and the bay. Great spot to fish from shore or just float the river mouth for a while. Waterfowl are constant company.
Zero Amenities
No trailer spots, no dock, no real improvements to speak of. You're carrying your boat to the water. Keep your vehicle compact — it's a small footprint managed by the City of Munising, and there's not much room to maneuver if someone else shows up.
