Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Tournament Days Fill Fast
Eighteen trailer spots sounds fine until a bass tournament rolls in — then you're out of luck. Weekday mornings or early weekend launches are your best bet if you want stress-free parking.
Weed Treatment Windows
They spray for invasive weeds some summers, and it can make the lake pretty unpleasant for a stretch. If you show up and the water looks off or there are posted signs, that's why. Give it a week or two before planning a trip.
Clean and Simple Setup
One lane with a concrete ramp and a dock — nothing fancy, but everything works. It's well maintained by the Allegan Field Office and you won't be fighting broken concrete or silt buildup. Great for smaller boats and kayaks.
Solid Panfish Lake
Baseline is a real gem for bluegill, bass, and pike — including some big gar pike that'll surprise you. It's a quieter SW Michigan lake that doesn't get hammered like some of the bigger waters nearby, so the fishing pressure stays manageable.
Porta-John On Site
There's a vault-style restroom right at the launch, which is more than a lot of small Allegan County launches offer. Makes it a decent pit stop even if you're just paddling through or grabbing a bite on the dock.
