Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Parking Fills Fast
Only 12 trailer spots, and on summer weekends it's common to find every one taken by trucks with empty trailers just sitting there. If you're not on the water by 8 AM on a Saturday, you might be out of luck — there's no real overflow area.
Shallow & Weedy
Max depth is around 11 feet, so this is a small-boat lake through and through. Lily pads and weeds choke up a lot of the shoreline, especially by late summer. Great for panfish — crappie and bluegill run a solid size — but bass tend to stay small.
Tricky To Find
It's tucked back in the woods off some unmarked backroads, and cell service drops out before you get there. Know your route ahead of time. The county line situation between Allegan and Van Buren doesn't help — your GPS might get confused.
Single Lane, No Drama
The ramp and dock are in decent shape and handle small to mid-size boats fine. One lane means you'll be taking turns if someone else shows up, but the launch itself is straightforward with no major drop-off or broken concrete to worry about.
Bring Your Own Supplies
There's a portable toilet on-site, which is more than a lot of secluded launches offer. That said, don't count on it being stocked or clean — bring your own TP and sanitizer, especially mid-season.
