Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Small But Clean
Single lane ramp that looks like it was redone fairly recently — concrete is in good shape. With only 6 trailer spots, this isn't the place to show up with a crew of buddies all towing separate rigs. One or two trucks with trailers and it starts feeling tight.
Perch Factory
Parent Lake is a reliable perch lake. You can pull them right off the dock if you don't even feel like launching. The lake fishes well for smaller boats — 14- to 16-footers are ideal here. Not a big-water destination, but that's the appeal.
Weekday Sweet Spot
Being a state park launch with minimal parking, summer weekends can get squeezed by mid-morning. Hit it on a weekday and you'll likely have the whole lake to yourself. The kind of place where you won't see another boat for hours.
Wildlife Bonus
The surrounding shoreline is swampy and undeveloped, which makes it prime territory for eagles, loons, and the occasional moose sighting. Paddle the edges early morning and you'll see more wildlife than people. Bring a camera.
