Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Tiny But Functional
One lane, three trailer spots — that's the whole operation. This is a small, quiet lake in Baraga County, so you're rarely competing with anyone for space. Perfect for a 14-foot jon boat or a canoe, but don't try squeezing anything over 18 feet down here.
State Park Connection
Administered by Baraga State Park, so the ramp stays in decent shape compared to some of the truly neglected UP launches. That said, don't expect anything fancy — no dock, no courtesy pier. You're backing in and sliding off the trailer.
Solitude Is The Draw
Roland Lake is one of those spots most people drive right past on the way to Keweenaw or Huron Mountains. If you want a morning on the water without seeing another soul, this is it. The surrounding landscape has a real remote Upper Peninsula feel — old mining country with thick timber pressing in on all sides.
Seasonal Water Levels
Spring runoff keeps things fine, but by late summer the single lane can get shallow at the edges. Stay centered on the concrete and you'll be okay. The ramp itself is short, so low water in August or September means your trailer tires might not reach deep enough for bigger boats.
