Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Tiny But Functional
One lane and only four trailer spots — this isn't a place you bring a 21-foot walleye rig. Small boats, kayaks, and canoes are the move here. If someone's already on the ramp, you're waiting in the road.
Peaceful Weekday Gem
With only 13-odd people even knowing this place exists, you can have the whole lake to yourself on a weekday morning. Weekends in summer might see two or three trucks filling those four spots, though, and there's no overflow area to speak of.
Fall Color Stop
Right off US-41/28, so it's easy to find, but that highway proximity also means random sightseers pull in to look at the lake. In October they'll park in a trailer spot just to watch the ducks. Not a big deal unless you're trying to squeeze in with a trailer.
State Park Connection
Administered by Van Riper State Park, so it's maintained but not pampered. Don't expect courtesy docks or fish-cleaning stations. The access is straightforward and the ramp is shallow-grade enough for easy loading, which is all you really need on a quiet lake like this.
