Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Not A Ramp
There's no actual boat ramp here — no lanes, no trailer parking, nothing paved. This is a fishing access site, pure and simple. If you're looking to launch anything bigger than a kayak or canoe, you'll need to find another spot.
Carry-In Only
You can drag a canoe or kayak down to the water without much trouble, but that's about it. The river is deep surprisingly close to the bank in spots, so getting a small boat in the water isn't hard — just don't expect any infrastructure helping you do it.
Worth The Walk
Even if you're not launching, the falls upstream are spectacular and easy to miss if you don't walk far enough. Push past the first rapids and keep going — the actual falls are the payoff. The trail is rough but manageable.
Strong Current Warning
The Sturgeon runs high and fast, especially in spring. This isn't lazy flatwater paddling — you need to respect the current here. Deep water starts just a few feet from the bank in places, which is great for getting in but can catch you off guard.
