Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Tiny But Peaceful
One lane, eight trailer spots — this is not a place you bring a 20-foot walleye rig. Small boats, kayaks, and canoes are the move here. The upside is you'll practically have the lake to yourself most days.
Fills Fast On Weekends
Eight spots disappear quick on a nice Saturday morning. Get there early or you're parking along the road and hoping nobody blocks you in. Weekdays you'll have zero issues.
Solid Panfish Lake
Baker Lake fishes well for panfish and bass. It's a quiet water that doesn't get hammered with pressure, so the fish aren't nearly as skittish as on the bigger Barry County lakes.
State Rec Area Rules Apply
You're inside Yankee Springs Recreation Area, so you'll need a valid Recreation Passport on your vehicle. Easy to forget if you're just popping in for a quick trip. No passport, no launch — they do check.
Access Road Is Sandy
The road leading in has stretches of deep sand that can catch you off guard, especially if you're towing a trailer with a low-clearance vehicle. Take it slow and keep your momentum steady through the soft spots.
