Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
No Real Ramp
This is a small gravel and firm sand launch — no concrete, no lanes, no trailer parking. You're carrying in a kayak or canoe here, period. Don't even think about backing a trailer down.
Dangerously Shallow
If you somehow get a motorized boat in, you'll regret it fast. The launch area is barely ankle-deep in spots, and the lake itself has stretches that are 6 inches to a foot deep. Prop damage is almost guaranteed.
Weekday Sweet Spot
Weekdays are quiet and peaceful — great for paddling and watching wildlife. Weekends it turns into a party scene, which is saying something for a lake this small and remote.
Winter Inaccessible
The road in doesn't get plowed, so once snow hits you're done until spring. It's state game area land with minimal maintenance, so even in mud season the access road can get sketchy.
Bugs Are No Joke
Bring serious repellent, especially early summer. The insects out here are oversized and relentless — comes with the territory on a shallow, marshy lake surrounded by game area.
