Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
No Ramp Here
This is a carry-down only — no boat ramp, no trailer spots. You're hauling kayaks and canoes down a steep bank with some crude stairs cut into the dirt, or sliding down to a small sandy spot at the water's edge. Forget anything bigger than a rowboat.
Deadfall Gauntlet
The stretch downstream toward Middleville is notorious for fallen trees blocking the channel. You'll be climbing over, ducking under, and dragging around logs — it turns a float trip into an obstacle course. Budget way more time than you think.
Parking Is Fine
The gravel lot has plenty of room. Even on weekends you won't fight for a spot. There's an outhouse up top, though I wouldn't vouch for its condition on any given day.
Current At Launch
You're launching directly into the Thornapple's current off that sandy bottom. It's manageable but worth noting if you're loading a tandem canoe — have someone hold the bow while you get settled or the river will spin you sideways before you're ready.
