Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Dangerously Shallow
The drain hasn't been dredged in years, and you're looking at roughly 2 feet of water by the time you reach Saginaw Bay. Fine for a kayak or a jon boat, but don't even think about bringing anything with real draft — you'll be stuck before you clear the channel.
Small Boats Only
This is a one-lane launch that can handle a small aluminum boat at best. The approach is tight and the waterway is narrow, so anything over 16 feet is going to be a headache getting in and turned around.
Barely A Launch
Honestly, this spot functions more like a park with water access than a real boat launch. A couple porta potties, 19 trailer spots that almost never fill, and a quiet little drain. If you're kayaking or just want a place to bird-watch, it's actually pretty great. If you need legitimate bay access, head to a proper ramp.
Winter Scene
In winter this place freezes up solid and gets a peaceful, snow-covered look to it. Some folks ice fish the drain, but don't expect any maintained access once the snow piles up — Hampton Township isn't plowing this one out for you.
