Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
No Trailer Launch
Despite the 8 trailer spots, there's no actual ramp here — just timber steps down to the water. This is a carry-down access for canoes, kayaks, and wading anglers. Don't show up with a 16-footer on a trailer expecting to back in.
Salmon Run Chaos
When the salmon are running in fall, this spot gets absolutely slammed. The small footprint means you're elbow-to-elbow with other anglers, and the trash situation gets ugly fast. Early morning weekdays are the only time you'll have any breathing room.
Low Water Problems
The boating pier next to the river becomes completely unusable when water levels drop. Late summer and dry spells can leave you scrambling for decent water access, so time your trips around recent rainfall if you can.
Better For Wading
Honestly, this site shines as a wade-fishing access point for the Betsie rather than a boat launch. The timber steps and river depth make it ideal for chest waders and drift fishing — trying to muscle a boat down those steps is more hassle than it's worth.
