Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Shallow Lake Warning
Little Platte maxes out around 8 feet deep, so leave the big boat at home. This is kayak, canoe, and small jon boat territory. You'll scrape bottom fast if you're running anything with real draft.
Never A Crowd
Thirteen trailer spots sounds tight, but I've never seen this place even half full. Most days you'll have the whole launch to yourself. Weekend mornings in July, you might see two or three other trailers — that's a busy day here.
Kid-Friendly Dock Fishing
The dock is a solid spot to park the kids with a bobber and some worms. Perch and shiners hang around the structure. Beats fighting for space at the bigger Benzie launches if you just want a chill afternoon.
Quiet Alternative To Platte River
If the Platte River access points are a zoo — and they will be in summer thanks to the salmon run crowds — this is your escape valve just minutes away. Way less traffic, way less stress, totally different vibe.
