Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Small Boats Only
This ramp is really suited for kayaks, canoes, and smaller aluminum boats. Anything over 18 feet and you're going to have a tough time — the dock is comically short and the ramp is basic. If you're trailering a bigger rig, look elsewhere.
Parking Is Tight
Eight trailer spots on paper, but realistically you're fitting 5-6 vehicles with trailers if everyone cooperates. On a calm summer Saturday you could still find a spot, though — the lake just doesn't draw big crowds.
Quiet Water Gem
Upper Herring rarely has more than a handful of boats on it at any given time. If you want a peaceful paddle or a low-pressure fishing day without jet ski wakes bouncing you around, this is the spot. Weekdays you might have the whole lake to yourself.
Weedy Later In Summer
The lake grows a lot of grass, especially by mid-July onward. Great habitat for bass and panfish, but if you're running a trolling motor, expect to be clearing weeds off the prop constantly. A weedless setup is worth the investment here.
