Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Paddle-Only Takeout
This is a carry-in/carry-out spot with no ramp and no trailer parking. Don't show up expecting to drop a boat off a trailer — it's strictly for kayaks and canoes.
Dowagiac River Endpoint
This is the standard takeout for Dowagiac River paddle trips. You'll want to stage a vehicle here before heading upstream to your put-in. Forgetting the car keys is a rite of passage, apparently.
Limited Parking Space
There's no designated trailer lot — just enough room to park a few vehicles along the access area. If you're running a shuttle with friends, keep your car count tight or you'll box each other in.
River Character
The Dowagiac is a beautiful little river with solid current and a lot of personality. It's a legit paddle — not just flat water — but it's narrow enough that bigger groups can create logjams at the takeout. Weekday floats are way more relaxed.
