Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Tiny Parking Lot
Three trailer spots is all you get. On summer weekends, if you're not there by 7 AM, you're probably out of luck. There's no real overflow area — just a narrow shoulder that won't fit a trailer rig.
Kayak Paradise
This is a no-wake lake with channels connecting to two other lakes, so it's absolutely ideal for kayaks and canoes. Small boats only — don't bring anything over 16 feet or you'll regret the tight turnaround at the single-lane ramp.
Seasonal Visibility
Early spring before leaf-out is the sweet spot for scouting the lake from shore. Once everything greens up by late May, the tree line closes in tight and you can barely see the water from the parking area.
Quiet Water Gem
What makes Gordon Lake worth the limited parking hassle is how peaceful it stays. No jet skis, no wake boats — just anglers and paddlers. It's a completely different vibe from the bigger Calhoun County launches, and the fishing pressure stays low because so few people know about it.
