Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Carry-In Only
There's no ramp here — zero lanes, zero trailer spots. This is a bank launch for kayaks, canoes, and small boats you can muscle down to the water. If you're trailering anything, look elsewhere.
Decent Depth
The Dowagiac runs about 6 feet deep in the middle channel right off this launch, so you're not dragging bottom in a kayak or small jon boat. Nice for a river this size.
Parking Fills Oddly
There's maybe 20 car spots in the lot — no trailer parking by design. On a nice summer weekend you might find it tighter than expected for a little river access point. You'll need a Michigan Recreation Passport displayed on your vehicle.
Decontamination Station
They put in a CD3 decontamination station when this site was developed in 2019. Clean your gear before and after — the Dowagiac feeds the St. Joseph River system and they're serious about keeping invasives out.
No Facilities
Don't expect a porta-john or any amenities. It's a relatively new site but bare-bones — just the launch area, a small fishable bank, and the parking lot. Plan accordingly if you're spending a half day on the river.
