Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Shallow At The Ramp
The drop-off is gradual, which is a real problem if you're launching anything over 18 feet. A 20-footer will have you backing your truck tires into the water just to float off the trailer. Smaller boats are fine, but bigger rigs plan accordingly.
Parking Fills Fast
Only about 10 trailer spots, and they've actually reduced that number recently by blocking off a few. On summer weekends — especially when the jet ski and tubing crowd shows up — you can get shut out by mid-morning. No real overflow option nearby.
Short Dock, Long Wait
Single lane with a short dock means staging gets tight when multiple boats are trying to launch or load at once. Weekday mornings you'll have it to yourself, but Saturday afternoons turn into a patience test.
Gravel Lot Rough Spots
The parking area is gravel and develops serious potholes and ruts through the season. It could use a fresh grading. Low-clearance vehicles and long trailers will feel every bump pulling in and out.
The Lake Is Worth It
All 500 acres of clean, clear water with minimal weed problems — that's rare for southwest Michigan. Excellent panfish action with crappie and big bluegills, plus solid bass. A couple of islands make for interesting structure. The launch has its headaches, but the lake itself is a gem.
