Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Water Levels Fluctuate
This lake can drop drastically — sometimes 2 feet or more down, leaving the ramp high and dry. When levels are low, you're not getting a boat in here period. Check before you drive out, especially in late summer and fall.
Parking's Never an Issue
15 trailer spots on paper, but realistically you'll see maybe 4–6 rigs at a time. I've never had to wait for a spot or a lane here. It's a sleepy launch on a smaller lake, and that's part of the charm.
Rocky Lakebed
The bottom near shore is rocky, not sandy. If you're wading to guide your trailer or hopping out to push off, wear shoes you don't mind scuffing up. It's not ideal for swimming right off the ramp area either.
Solid Ramp When Usable
Concrete ramp with a decent dock — when water levels cooperate, it's a clean, easy launch for small to mid-size boats. There's a restroom on-site too, which is a bonus for a launch this quiet in Lake County.
Bluegill Factory
This lake is loaded with big bluegill and has a decent bass population, though the bass tend to run under 12 inches. Night fishing here is genuinely productive if you're targeting panfish. Keep your eyes open for freshwater jellyfish — tiny quarter-sized ones — they're real and surprisingly common in the water.
