Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Shallow At The Ramp
Tilt your motor before you get close — it's noticeably shallow at the end of the ramp, especially mid-to-late summer. You can bottom out a lower unit if you're not paying attention. Not a problem for launching, but keep it trimmed up until you're well off the slab.
One Lane, Low Stress
Single lane, but honestly it moves fine. The ramp is a gentler slope than most, so loading and unloading is quick. Weekday mornings you'll practically have it to yourself. Weekends can stack up a few trailers, but 30 spots means parking isn't usually the issue — it's just waiting your turn.
Perch And Walleye Spot
Dodge Point and the bay right off the launch are productive for perch and walleye. Pike and lake trout are out there too if you want to venture further. Short run to the sandbar if you're on a pontoon just looking to hang out.
Ramp Grade Is Mellow
The concrete is in good shape, but the slope is pretty gradual compared to other Cheboygan County launches. If you're running a deeper-draft boat, you may need to back the trailer out further than usual to float off. Smaller rigs and pontoons have zero issues.
Passport Purchase On-Site
You can buy your Recreation Passport right here if you forgot or haven't renewed, which saves you a trip. Outhouse is on-site and kept reasonably clean. The Mullett Area Preservation Society keeps AIS cleaning tools at the launch — use them, because this lake is worth protecting.
