Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Tiny Launch Area
One lane, two trailer spots — that's it. If someone's already parked there with a trailer, you're basically waiting or getting creative. This is really geared toward canoes, kayaks, and small fishing boats, not anything over 16 feet.
Shallow Sandy Lake
Andrus Lake has a sandy bottom and stays pretty shallow, especially near shore. Great for cartopping a small boat or launching a jonboat, but don't expect to run anything with serious draft. Panfish are the main draw here.
Bugs Are Legendary
From late May through August, the mosquitoes at this launch and campground are absolutely relentless. I'm not exaggerating — you'll want a head net just to get your boat in the water. Early morning and dusk are the worst.
Peak Season Chaos
This campground serves as overflow for Tahquamenon Falls, so mid-summer weekends can get surprisingly packed for such a small spot. The two trailer parking spots fill fast, and maneuvering a trailer through the campground loop is tight. Weekdays or shoulder season (September–October) are a completely different, quieter experience.
Great Base Location
Five minutes north of Paradise, five minutes south of Whitefish Point, and about 25 minutes east of Tahquamenon Falls. If you want a quiet, no-frills put-in for a small boat and don't need anything fancy, this beats fighting crowds at the more popular launches nearby. The fishing pier right next to the launch is a nice bonus if the kids come along.
