Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Fresh Pavement
They just finished paving repairs in 2025, so the ramp surface is in the best shape it's been in years. Before that, the concrete was getting rough — nice to finally have a smooth approach.
Wildfowl Bay Access
This puts you right onto Wildfowl Bay on Lake Huron's west side. Fantastic for bass, pike, and perch, and the bay stays relatively protected compared to launching straight onto the open lake. Shallow water is the tradeoff — pay attention at the ramp and keep an eye on your depth heading out.
Shallow At The Ramp
The water near the launch can be tight and shallow, especially later in the season or when lake levels dip. Deeper-draft boats should take it slow backing in. Jet skis and smaller aluminum rigs won't have issues.
Bar Traffic Bottleneck
There's a bar right at the entrance, and on summer weekends the foot and vehicle traffic can make getting a trailer in and out a bit of an obstacle course. Early mornings are smooth, but by mid-afternoon expect congestion around the access road.
More Than A Launch
The fishing dock here is legitimately good — shore anglers pull bluegill, bass, catfish, and the occasional nice perch right off the deck. Hit up Bayport Fish Co. nearby for smoked whitefish and lake trout on your way out. That alone is worth the trip.
