Harrisville State Park

The harbor mouth is closing in with sand — it's been getting progressively shallower and narrower. Dredging is supposedly scheduled for 2026, but until then, watch your depth going in and out, especially if you're drawing more than 3-4 feet. Stick to the center of the channel.

There's a low spot in the water right near the launch area that has caught people off guard. At least one boat needed help getting into deeper water after getting hung up. If you're launching anything with real draft, power through that first stretch and don't dawdle.

The ramp surface gets slick with algae, especially mid-to-late summer. It's the kind of thing that'll put you on your back if you're not careful walking the dock or guiding the trailer. Boat shoes with grip, not flip-flops.

Even on holiday weekends this place doesn't pack out the way you'd expect. Parking is shared with the day use area at the state park, but there's tons of room. You won't be circling for a spot. The trade-off is that restrooms are locked from fall through spring, so plan accordingly on shoulder-season trips.

Lake Huron's fishery isn't what it used to be, and you'll notice it here — the launch doesn't see heavy traffic from anglers anymore. That means easy access for you, but don't expect a bustling scene with fish-cleaning stations and bait shops nearby. Harrisville is a quiet town, so bring what you need.
