Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Well-Protected Harbor
This is a stone-walled harbor tucked into a natural bay, so you're launching into calm water even when Huron is kicking up. It's one of the better-protected launches on this stretch between Alpena and Rogers City.
Navigate The Buoys
Coming in by water, enter at the red buoy with the bell. There are four sets of navigation buoys guiding you into the marina entrance — don't cut corners, follow the line in.
Weekday Gem, Weekend Decent
44 trailer spots plus a handful of vehicle-only spots east of the ramp by the old restaurant site. Even summer weekends don't get crazy up here — this isn't Traverse City. Weekdays you might have the ramp entirely to yourself.
Off-Season Sweet Spot
September through mid-October is quietly the best time to launch here. Parking is wide open, the water turns that insane shade of aqua blue, and the fall color along the drive in is worth the trip alone. Gates close at 5 PM in the off-season, so plan your haul-out accordingly.
Amenities Are Hit Or Miss
The harbor facilities are aging — bathrooms and showers work but feel overdue for a refresh. Fuel dock availability has been inconsistent in past seasons, so don't count on topping off here without checking ahead. There's a small store across the road for supplies and pizza, which is a lifesaver if you're staying on the water late.
