Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Early Season Bottleneck
This is THE launch at the mouth of the Saginaw Bay early in the season. Expect five or more boats lined up at sunrise on good weather days. Weekends get genuinely packed — get there early or plan to wait.
Parking Competition
The lot is big — maybe 100 trailer spots — but non-trailer vehicles regularly take up 5-10 spots meant for rigs. That eats into capacity fast on weekends. Arrive early on Saturdays or you'll be circling.
Dock Quirks
Three docks, but don't count on all of them. At least one tends to sit low or partially submerged, and floating debris — logs, branches — collects in the dock slips, especially later in the season. Worth a quick look before you commit to a lane.
Winter Lifeline
This is one of the few launches around that stays usable in winter. They'll sometimes keep just one dock in the water, so the wait can be brutal on an ice fishing day when everyone has the same idea. But it beats having no access at all.
River Mouth Access
You're right at the Saginaw River mouth, so the depth is solid all the way out to the bay — no worrying about dragging bottom with a bigger boat. Just know there's a no-wake zone up and down the river from the launch, so budget extra time before you can open it up.
