Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Saginaw River Mouth
You're launching right at the mouth of the Saginaw River, so you've got quick access to lower Saginaw Bay. Be aware there's a no-wake zone up and down the river from the launch — budget extra time to reach open water, especially if you're chasing walleye out on the Bay.
Early Season Crowds
When the weather turns nice in spring, expect five or more boats lined up at sunrise waiting to launch. Weekends get packed — non-trailer vehicles grab trailer spots, which eats into the 20 marked spaces fast. Get there early or risk circling.
Dock Quirks
Three docks, but don't count on all of them being usable. One has a tendency to sit low or partially submerged, and floating debris — logs, branches — collects between the dock slots, especially after storms. Give it a quick scan before you back in.
Fresh Ramp & Lot
The ramp and parking lot got a full redo in 2024, so the surface is in great shape and the lot feels bigger than the old setup. Water depth holds well all the way to the river mouth — no issues launching larger boats. Huge improvement over what was here before.
Winter Lifeline
This is one of the only launches in the area that stays accessible for winter fishing. They'll keep at least one dock in the water when everything else is pulled. If you're chasing open water on the Bay in January or February, this is your spot — just expect company and a wait at the single dock.
