Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Zero Trailer Parking
There are no designated trailer spots here, period. You're either dropping the boat and having someone shuttle the truck elsewhere, or you're getting creative with street parking nearby. Not ideal if you're solo launching.
Off-Peak Is Key
During summer weekends, the two lanes get bottlenecked fast — mostly because of the parking situation, not the ramp itself. Hit it early morning or come midweek and you'll have the place practically to yourself.
St. Marys River Current
The river moves here. Depending on water levels and flow from the locks upstream, you can feel a solid push at the ramp. Keep your bow into the current when loading, especially with smaller boats under 18 feet.
City-Run But Bare Bones
Sault Ste. Marie maintains it, but don't expect amenities. No dock, no fish cleaning station, no restrooms right at the launch. It's a ramp and that's about it. Functional, but you're on your own for everything else.
