Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Not A Real Ramp
Don't come here expecting a proper boat launch. There are zero lanes and no trailer parking — this is basically a carry-in access point off a dirt lot. Canoes and kayaks only, and even then you're improvising your way to the water.
Rough Road In
The access road has serious potholing that'll rattle your teeth. Fresh gravel is long overdue. If you're pulling any kind of trailer, take it slow or you'll be picking up pieces on the way out.
Easy To Get Lost
The trail network around the lake has tons of cross trails and virtually no signage. If you're walking to scout the shoreline or find a put-in spot, pull up AllTrails or you'll spend an hour finding your car again.
Gunfire Nearby
There's an active gun range close enough that you'll hear rapid fire clearly from the water. Not a safety issue, but if you're looking for a peaceful paddle, it can shatter the mood pretty fast.
Wildlife Area Vibe
This parcel has been state game land since 1938, and it feels like it — minimal improvements, no amenities, no frills. It's a solid spot for a quiet kayak outing on a small lake, but don't expect anything more than a dirt lot and your own two hands to get launched.
