Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Gravel Road Access
You're on gravel roads to get in here, and they can get rough after spring thaw or heavy rain. Take it slow — it's not far from town but it feels like you're heading into the backcountry.
Tiny Lot Fills Fast
Four trailer spots is all you get. If you're coming on a summer weekend, show up early or plan to get creative. A couple trucks with trailers and you're done.
Small Boats Only
Single lane launch on a mine pond — this is kayak, canoe, and small aluminum territory. Don't try bringing anything over 16 feet. The ramp is basic and the water isn't deep right off the launch.
The Mine Ponds Are Special
There are four interconnected mine ponds out here, and they're genuinely stunning — deep, clear water surrounded by wilderness. Bass, bluegill, pike, and muskie all swim these ponds. You can paddle between them and feel like you're the only person for miles.
Primitive But Worth It
Waterside primitive camping spots are scattered around the ponds, so it's perfect for a paddle-in overnight. Zero light pollution — the night sky alone is worth the trip. Just don't expect any amenities out here.
