Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Gravel Road Access
You're on gravel roads to get in here, and they can get rough after spring thaw or heavy rain. Take it slow — it's not far from town, but it feels like you're heading into the middle of nowhere.
Tiny Lot Fills Fast
Five trailer spots is all you get. On summer weekends, even a handful of other anglers means you're out of luck. Get there early Saturday morning or aim for weekdays if you want stress-free parking.
Single Lane Simplicity
One lane, so if someone's struggling to back in, you're just sitting there. Not a big deal on a Tuesday, but on a holiday weekend with the lot already tight, it can get annoying fast.
Old Mine Pond Magic
These old mine ponds are deep, clear, and strikingly beautiful — steep rocky walls dropping into the water. Bass, bluegill, pike, and muskie all live here. It's a completely different vibe from your typical UP lake launch. Best suited for smaller boats and kayaks given the limited infrastructure.
Primitive But Worth It
There's primitive camping scattered around the pond complex right on the water. If you're planning an overnight fishing trip, launching here and setting up camp nearby is the move. Zero light pollution — the night sky alone is worth the drive.
