Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Confusing Location
Don't let the Google listing fool you — most of what you'll find online about this spot mixes in info about Strawberry Lake Park nearby. Norway Reservoir on the Sturgeon River is a separate launch. Make sure your GPS is pointed at the reservoir itself, not the walking path park.
Tiny Lot, Plan Accordingly
Six trailer spots fills up fast on any decent weekend morning. If you're not there by 7 AM on a Saturday in summer, you might be out of luck. There's no real overflow option — just a narrow gravel shoulder that gets soft in spring.
Winter Gravel Lane
There's a second gravel ramp lane specifically for winter access, which is a nice bonus. It holds up better than the primary lane when ice fishing season brings trailers in and out on frozen or muddy ground.
Single Lane Bottleneck
One paved lane means any fumbling at the ramp backs everyone up. This isn't a place to bring a big rig for the first time — keep it to smaller boats and you'll have a much better experience. The ramp handles 16-footers fine but anything larger starts to feel tight with the approach.
State Park Admin
Bewabic State Park manages this launch, so you'll want a Recreation Passport on your plate. The upside is the ramp stays in decent shape compared to some of the truly neglected launches in Dickinson County, but don't expect anything fancy — it's a basic, no-frills river launch.
