Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
No Ramp Here
This is a paddle-craft-only access — no boat ramp, no trailer parking. You're carrying kayaks and canoes down a set of wooden stairs to the water. Works great for that purpose, but don't show up expecting to back a trailer in.
Parking Fills Fast
There's very limited parking, and on weekends it can fill up completely. If you're planning a Saturday float, get there early or consider using McNamara Park downstream instead — way more parking and only about 30-40 minutes of paddling apart.
Deep Water at Stairs
The bank drops off right at the stairs — there's no gradual shallow area to wade in or steady your boat. Getting in is fine, but getting out on the return can be awkward, especially if you're loaded down. The stairs themselves are solid, just expect to step into waist-deep water.
Hidden Hazards Below
The river bottom near the landing is full of submerged roots and debris. Do not try wading upstream or downstream from the stairs — it gets deep fast and the tangles below the surface are serious. Stick to launching and landing right at the stairway.
Mosquitoes Are Brutal
The shaded, riverbank setting is beautiful but the mosquitoes are relentless, especially in summer evenings. If you're using this as your takeout after a sunset paddle to or from McNamara, douse yourself before you arrive or you'll regret lingering.
