Tiny Lot, Plan Around It
The one thing to know before you trailer here: parking fits roughly three truck-trailer rigs and that's it. Reviewers call it 'very little parking,' and Resort Township's own master plan keeps 'more parking at Townsend Road' on its wish list year after year. On a nice summer weekend you may pull in to a full lot. Come early, come odd hours, or have a backup in mind.
Well-Built Ramp
Once you're in, this is a good launch. It was rebuilt in 2013–2014 with a concrete ramp, a sturdy seasonal dock, and paved parking, and boaters describe it as well-built and well-maintained. For a free county road-end, it's a cut above — the constraint here is the lot size, not the ramp.
Free County Road-End
Like Walloon's other road-end launches, this is an Emmet County Road Commission access, not a developed park. You get a ramp and a dock and nothing else — no restrooms, no fee station, no staff. Pack out what you pack in.
Closest to Petoskey
Sitting at the north end off Townsend Road (which runs from U.S.-31 down to the lake), this is the handiest public launch if you're coming from the Petoskey side — part of why the little lot fills up. If it's taken, Morford Park is just over on Lake Grove Road, though its ramp is notably steeper.
