Weed Nightmare
Chaney Lake might show 10 feet on a map, but the weeds grow right up to the surface across most of it. You'll feel like you're about to hit something constantly. Plan on stopping to clean off the prop multiple times per outing, especially mid-summer.
Tiny Lot, No Backup
Four trailer spots is all you get. If even two other rigs show up, you're out of luck — there's no overflow or shoulder parking to speak of. Best for small boats and early mornings when you'll likely have the place to yourself.
Small Boats Only
This is a one-lane gravel launch on a small lake. Fine for a 14-foot tin boat or a kayak, but an 18-footer is really pushing it given the shallow weedy conditions. Think of it as a quiet paddle lake, not a fishing destination for big rigs.
Bring A Depth Finder
Don't come here without some way to read what's under you. Submerged weeds and unseen obstructions are everywhere, and the water clarity doesn't help. A basic sonar unit will save you a prop — or at least save you from climbing out of the boat to clear one.
