Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Small But Functional
Two lanes and only 14 trailer spots — it works fine on weekdays, but weekends in summer fill that lot fast. If you're bringing anything bigger than a 18-footer, you'll want to get there early because maneuvering gets tight with trucks parked on both sides.
Kayak-Friendly Entry
Good spot to drop a kayak or canoe without much fuss. The ramp area is well-maintained by DNR, and there's enough shoreline room to launch paddle craft off to the side without blocking the ramp lanes.
Fourth of July Madness
The lake community goes all out for the 4th of July fireworks — best display you'll see on a small inland lake. But that also means the launch area is a zoo that whole weekend. Plan to be parked and in the water well before dark or you're not getting a spot.
Musky Water
Lake Diane is a legit musky lake, which is a big draw for this corner of Hillsdale County. Early morning runs in fall are your best bet — less recreational traffic and the fish are active. The lake is small enough that you can cover most of it in a half day.
