Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Seaweed On Ramps
The ramp lanes collect big mats of seaweed that pile up surprisingly fast, especially mid-to-late summer. Four lanes sounds generous, but if two are clogged with weed balls you're down to two. Give a quick look before you back in and be ready to clear some off your trailer rollers.
Fish Cleaning Hideaway
There's a fish cleaning station across the road in the overflow parking area, but there's zero signage pointing you to it. If you don't know it's there, you'll drive right past. Worth finding though — it's solid and saves you a mess at home after a Saginaw Bay walleye run.
Parking & Fee Setup
49 trailer spots at the main lot plus overflow across the road. For a summer Saturday heading out to the bay, get there before 6 AM or you're parking across the street. Launch fee is $10, and dock fishing runs a few bucks — bring cash, they don't always have card capability.
Gateway To The Bay
This is one of the better Thumb-area launches for reaching Saginaw Bay quickly. Floating docks make solo loading easy, and the on-site bait shop means you can grab minnows and custom tackle without a separate stop. Compared to other Huron County ramps, the infrastructure here is a clear step up.
After-Dark Heads Up
The parking lot lights haven't worked in years. If you're coming back from an evening bite on the bay, you're backing your trailer in the dark with just your headlights. Bring a headlamp and a spotter — it's tight quarters with 49 spots and no illumination.
