Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Weekend Chaos
Two lanes and 55 trailer spots handle normal traffic fine, but summer weekends — especially during bass tournaments — turn the staging area into a circus. People prep their boats in the launch lanes instead of the staging area, and there's essentially no staff managing the flow. Get there early on Saturdays or plan on a weekday trip.
Watch The Sandbars
Lake Lansing has sneaky sandbars that pop up well over 50 feet from shore in spots where you wouldn't expect them. Your depth finder won't give you much warning at speed. More than a few props have met their end here. Take it slow until you know the lake, and stay in the established channels near shore.
Ramp Gets Slick
Algae builds up on the concrete ramp surface as the season wears on, making it genuinely slippery on foot. The ramp depth is solid — you won't need to back your truck to the axles even at lower water levels — but watch your footing when you're walking the dock or guiding the trailer.
Pressure Wash Station
This is one of the few Ingham County launches with a boat wash station right on-site. It's a real perk for staying compliant with invasive species rules, and it beats hauling a weedy hull down the road. That alone makes this a better option than most nearby put-ins.
Seasonal Access Notes
The launch runs sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset. Restrooms close for winter since they're unheated, and fall hours can be unpredictable — the bathrooms sometimes open later than the gate. Day passes run around $5-8 depending on the year, purchased at the gatehouse when staffed.
