Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Silting In Bad
The launch area is filling in with sand and mud — the Grand River runs shallow here and it's only getting worse. If you're dragging anything with real draft, you're going to have a bad time. Canoes, kayaks, and jon boats are about all that's practical.
No Trailer Setup
There's zero trailer parking and no actual ramp lanes. This is a carry-in or back-your-truck-to-the-edge kind of spot. Don't show up expecting to drop a 18-footer in here.
Tight Parking Window
Parking is within about 75 feet of the launch, but it's minimal — just enough room for a few vehicles. If someone else has the same idea on a Saturday morning, you're out of luck.
Best For Small Craft
This works well as a put-in for kayaks or small flat-bottoms heading downstream on the Grand. It's quiet, there's a restroom in the day-use lot just to the south, and you won't deal with the circus you get at busier Kent County launches. Just manage your expectations on water depth.
