Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Single Lane Bottleneck
One lane serving a pretty popular lake means you'll be waiting on weekends, especially mid-morning when everyone shows up at once. People fumble with loading and unloading, and there's no room to work around them. The DNR knows it needs a second lane — it just hasn't happened yet.
Hostile Lakefront Vibe
The residents around Morrison act like this is their private lake. Expect dirty looks and the occasional shouting match if you're fishing near their docks or lingering in the lot. Don't give them any excuse — park correctly or you will get ticketed and towed. It's a public lake and a state-managed launch, but you wouldn't know it from the welcome.
Parking Gets Ugly Fast
24 trailer spots sounds okay until you realize cars without trailers are eating up spaces too. The lot layout is awkward for maneuvering trailers, and on a Saturday it's packed by mid-morning with no real overflow option. Weekdays are a completely different experience — quiet and easy.
Solid Fishing Makes It Worth It
Bass, big crappies, and perch are all here if you time it right. Jordan Lake nearby fills up even faster, so Morrison ends up being the backup plan for a lot of people — which adds to the crowding. Come early on a weekend or target a weekday and you'll have a much better time on the water.
Ramp Itself Is Fine
The actual ramp and dock are in good shape — no complaints about the surface or depth. Kayakers can put in right next to the ramp, but that adds to the chaos when it's busy. The restroom is clean, which is a nice bonus for a smaller state-managed launch.
