Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Driveway Washes Out
The gravel driveway between the parking area and the ramp erodes badly after any decent rain. It can get rutted enough to bottom out a low truck. If there's been a storm recently, take it slow and maybe walk it first.
Tiny Lake, Tiny Lot
Woodard is only about 7 acres, so this is strictly small boat and kayak territory. The 8 trailer spots fill fast on summer weekends — once they're gone, you're out of luck. Weekday mornings are your best bet.
Blue-Green Algae Risk
This lake has had dangerous cyanobacteria blooms in July. If the water looks like pea soup or has a scummy film, keep yourself and especially dogs out of it. It can pop up fast in the warm months.
Good Fishing, Rowdy Neighbors
The fishing is surprisingly solid for such a small lake — big bullheads, decent panfish. But some of the nearby residents can be territorial and loud. Don't let it run you off; you have every right to be there at a state launch.
