Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Tiny But Peaceful
Three trailer spots is all you get, so if two other rigs are already there, you're out of luck. That said, Cable Lake sees very little pressure — even on summer weekends you'll often have the whole launch to yourself.
Upper Peninsula Gem
This is deep Iron County backcountry. The lake is quiet, the water is clean, and you're unlikely to see more than a handful of boats all day. Perfect for small aluminum boats, kayaks, or canoes.
Road In Is Rustic
Don't expect a paved highway getting here. The access road is typical UP seasonal road — packed dirt that can get rutted and soft after rain. A truck or SUV handles it fine, but low-clearance vehicles towing a trailer might scrape in spots.
Single Lane Simplicity
One lane, no dock, no frills. Back in carefully because the ramp is narrow and the edges can be soft, especially in spring. Anything under 18 feet launches easy; bigger boats aren't really what this lake is about anyway.
