Ramp Quirks & Etiquette
Shallow Average Depth
The lake averages only about 5 feet deep, so keep your motor trimmed up once you leave the channel. There are some deeper pockets hitting 30 feet near the center, but you'll find expansive shallow flats that can sneak up on you fast, especially if you're running a larger boat.
Bass Factory
The bass fishing here is genuinely impressive. Super clear water makes sight-fishing a blast on calm mornings. Bring light line and finesse presentations — the visibility cuts both ways.
Bank Fishing Lacking
If you're shore-bound, you're going to be frustrated. There's really no dedicated fishing pier or improved bank access at the launch. You pretty much need a boat or at least a kayak to fish this lake properly.
Parking Manageable
Twenty-two trailer spots and two lanes handle a typical weekend just fine — this isn't a high-traffic destination lake. You might see it tighten up on holiday weekends, but I've never had to circle or wait for a spot here.
Watch The Shallows Late Summer
By August the weed growth in those 5-foot flats gets thick and can foul your prop if you're not paying attention. Stick to the marked deeper runs or idle through the weedy zones. Early season before the vegetation fills in is a much easier experience for powerboats.
